Oil on canvas, Size 20 x 30 inches. Completed in 2023. BY Sadr Star.
In this work, the artist pays tribute to one of the spiritual gems of Uzbekistan – the Khoja Ahrar Valiy Mosque, located in the historical center of Tashkent, on Chorsu Square.
Deeply inspired by the sacred aura of the mosque and its centuries-old heritage, the artist dedicated three years to this painting to depict the approaching time of morning prayer.
"I didn't paint the building - I painted its spirit," says Sadr Star. His creative process was not limited to simple observation – he repeatedly traveled there and participated in Friday prayers at this mosque, allowing the atmosphere of faith and peace to guide his brushstrokes. The result is a canvas that speaks not only to the eye but also to the soul.
The Khoja Ahrar Valiy Mosque, originally founded in 1451 by the revered Sufi master Ubaydullah Khoja Ahrar, continues to be a beacon of devotion. Lovingly restored, it welcomes hundreds of worshippers daily and remains one of Tashkent's most revered historical landmarks. Its elegant domes and serene atmosphere attract visitors from all over the world.
